—San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers to Hold Auditions

August 10 and 17, 2019—

WHAT:  The San Antonio Symphony Mastersingers, under the direction of John Silantien, will hold auditions August 10 and 17.  Openings are available in all voice parts.  Auditions consist of vocalizations, ear testing, sight-reading, and a prepared solo (if the singer has one). An accompanist will be provided.

Rehearsals will begin August 20 for the Mastersingers’ 75th concert season, 2019–20, which will include three performances with the San Antonio Symphony at the Tobin Center, including Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 ‘Resurrection’, Mozart’s Requiem and an evening featuring Brahms’ Schicksalslied Op. 54, Song of Destiny and selections from Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nüremburg. An independent presentation of Handel’s Messiah in December at University United Methodist Church and the 17th Annual Musical Shower of Roses concert at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower round out this 75th Anniversary Season.  A summer 2020 choral tour to Scotland, Wales and England is also planned.

WHEN:  Auditions will be held August 10 and 17.
